The SX1230 features dual power amplifiers with 35dB programmable output power, ranging from -18dBm to +17dBm with a constant radio performance over the full power supply and temperature range. Semtech’s TrueRF technology reduces phase noise so that the SX1230’s performance is a full 10db higher than competing devices with a signal purity that simplifies regulatory testing in both Europe (ETSI EN 300-220-1) and North America (FCC part 15.231,15.247 and 15.249).
The SX1230 can operate in the 315, 434, 868 and 915 MHz license-free ISM bands, and is power optimized for low consumption, drawing as low as 8mA depending on output power level.
The SX1230 features programmable data rates up to 600 kbps. It supports both narrowband and wide-band modes for use in professional and consumer applications such as automatic meter reading, remote control, and remote keyless entry. The flexible device operates in MCU mode where it acts as a system peripheral interface (SPI) slave, or in stand-alone SPI master mode, with control and payload information coming from externally connected programmable ROM (E2PROM) device.
“The SX1230 is a breakthrough for RF system designers, truly providing the functionality, design simplicity and cost effectiveness to be used across an entire line of ISM-band systems,” said Marc Pégulu Product Group Manager at Semtech. “The SX1230 gives customers a significant cost advantage because it attacks two big elements of total cost of ownership – reducing the BOM and also shortening design time.”
The SX1230 is packaged in a 5 mm x 5 mm VQFN-24 package, and is RoHS & WEEE compliant.
