The deal will finance the 100MW !Ka Xu project, which will collect solar energy using parabolic trough technology and convert it into electricity in the steam cycle.
The plant will have the capacity to store excess energy in a built-in molten-salt storage system or a thermal energy storage
According to the DBSA, the local energy sector is faced with several challenges and it requires an energy mix to speed up the country’s economic growth.
The DBSA said it is encouraged by the EIB’s trust and confidence towards its investment strategy in supporting the country’s power generation infrastructure to enhance the energy supply security.
The project went through its environmental appraisal guidelines to identify the impact on the environment.
The DBSA is confident that the investment will have positive contribution towards efforts to minimise adverse impact of energy generation on the environment, especially on climate change.
