Under the contract, MHPSA will supply two M501J gas turbines and one steam turbine for the $400m power plant, which is designed to help meet the growing power demand in northeastern Mexico.
MHPSA president and CEO David Walsh said: "As the pioneer in Advanced Technology Gas Turbines (ATGT), the MHPS awarded and installed ATGT fleet is 53% larger than the total combined fleet of all other OEMs."
In September, the Mexican Government selected Iberdrola to build 850MW Noreste combined cycle power plant in the municipality of Escobedo in the state of Nuevo León.
Iberdrola will construct, own, operate and maintain the power generation plant, which can generate electricity required to power 2 million Mexican consumers.
The company will also develop infrastructure including the power lines and the transformer substation, required for connecting the power plant to the national electricity system.
Power generated from the facility will be sold to the Mexican Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) under 25-year power purchase agreement with fixed capacity charges.
Planned to be commissioned in July 2018, the project is expected to be the most efficient and one of the largest combined cycle power plants in Mexico.
MHPSA plans to manufacture the two M501J gas turbines at its Savannah Machinery Works in Savannah, Georgia.
