The Dduk-Do plant offers 198 million gallons of potable water a day for about one million residents in seven districts including SeongDong-Gu, Seoul metropolitan area, South Korea.
Calgon Carbon’s GAC will be installed in the newly built carbon filters to take away taste and smell from the plant’s source water.
The carbon delivery is anticipated to start in December 2014 with planned completion in the second quarter of 2015.
Calgon Carbon chairman and CEO Randy Dearth said: "For more than 50 years, Filtrasorb carbons have set the standard for drinking water treatment worldwide, and they continue to be the cornerstone of our municipal water treatment and custom municipal reactivation business.
"Calgon Carbon has been supplying GAC to drinking water treatment plants in South Korea since 2000, and in June we completed delivery of more than five million of pounds of GAC to the Gu Eui plant under a contract awarded to us in February."
Calgon Carbon produces granular activated carbon and supplies over 100 types of activated carbon products for more than 700 applications.
