The deal will see the development team heading Gestamp Solar’s US operations join Solar Frontier Americas.
Gestamp Solar is the photovoltaic energy division of Gestamp Renewables. The company is backed by a $13bn industrial holding group, Corporacion Gestamp.
The company has to date developed more than 600MW of solar energy projects in Spain, Italy, France, South Africa, Mexico, Japan, Peru, Chile and the US.
Solar Frontier CEO Atsuhiko Hirano said: "The U.S. downstream expansion is part of Solar Frontier’s growth strategy to accelerate our business in key global markets through 2015 and beyond.

"We plan to bring that same quality and performance to our fully integrated business in the U.S. and the Americas."
Solar Frontier has delivered about 3GW of copper, indium, selenium thin-film solar modules to global commercial and utility-scale clients.
The company’s development operations in the US will be based in San Francisco, California.
