Aquion Energy and Eguana Technologies have completed field demonstration of a remote energy storage system.

The testing of Eguana’s Bi-Direx inverter with Aquion’s AHI batteries demonstrated their ability to work together as an energy storage module.

Eguana said target applications for the module include standalone and battery backup power, village power, remote microgrids, diesel optimization, and military power on demand.

The same platform can be adapted to address the increasing demand for battery-based solar photovoltaic (PV) self-consumption and residential battery backup storage systems.

Under the technology partnership, Aquion and Eguana will jointly market and support the combined solution to system integrators, OEMs, and other firms that implement energy storage systems.

The respective components of both companies are in production and available for purchase.

Aquion’s AHI batteries are optimized for daily deep cycling for residential solar, off-grid and microgrid, energy management, and grid-scale applications.

The company’s battery systems offer modular energy storage that allows to adopt renewable energy technologies like wind and solar, reduced dependence on fossil fuels, and optimize existing grid-tied generation assets.

Eguana’s Bi-Direx inverter is a bi-directional, grid-interactive inverter, designed specifically to link distributed low voltage generation and storage systems to smart grids and micro-grids.

Eguana delivers grid edge power electronics for fuel cell, PV and battery applications.
