The company expects that DOKHES project will provide environmental benefits by decreasing the number of trees cut for home heating.
As per the project’s estimates, there is 3,000 MW of hydroelectric potential in the provinces of Giresun, Trabzon, Rize, Artvin, Ordu, Bayburt and Gümüshane. And the project will generate $200 million of yearly income from the equipments only.
The project needs approval from the Ministry for Energy and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, the relevant local municipalities, some provincial administrations and the Turkish Electricity Distribution Company. the project will be financed by a fund managed by the DOKHES Union and specific provincial administrations.
