The contract will require Siemens to provide 66 Siemens SWT-2.3-108 wind turbines with a total capacity of around 151MW.

The wind turbines with 53m blades are part of the company’s G2 platform of onshore geared products that are suitable for all wind conditions.

The nacelles and blades for the project will be assembled and manufactures at Siemens’ facilities in Hutchinson, Kansas, and Fort Madison, Iowa respectively.

Siemens will begin installing the turbines this month, with planned commissioning in the spring of 2016.

The company also signed a long-term service and maintenance agreement for the turbines.

Siemens Financial Services is proving $50m in construction financing for the project, which will generate clean electricity that will be enough to power around 50,000 average US homes.

The company was also earlier contracted to provide turbines, service and financing for Apex Clean Energy’s Kay Wind project in Kay County, Oklahoma.

Siemens wind power and renewables division CEO onshore Thomas Richterich said: "With this second order in one year, Apex Clean Energy continues our successful collaboration.

"We are proud to meet the customers demand with our full spectrum of resources including equipment, service and financing."

In May, Siemens won a contract from Pattern Energy Group to supply turbines and transformers for the 150MW Amazon wind farm (Fowler Ridge) project in the US state of Indiana.
