PolyOne, a global provider of specialized polymer materials, services and systems, teamed up with MPC and Ford World Excellence supplier, to design the metallic-look engine cover with a reduced carbon footprint.
MPC claims that it molds the engine cover from a metallic-effect PolyOne compound (Maxxam FX Metal), which mimics the luster of painted polymer versions, yet eliminates the extra energy requirements and environmental challenges of traditional manufacturing and painting processes.
