Customers that purchase an Energy Star clothes washer from Caplan’s or The Home Depot in the months of April, May and June (2010) will receive an $80 instant rebate, a $60 mail-in rebate from the City of Toronto plus get an indoor drying rack valued at $68.
The promotion is valid from April 1, 2010 until June 30, 2010 at Caplan’s Appliances and Toronto-area
Home Depot Stores.
The company said that Energy Star qualified washing machines use at least 30% less electricity. They also use up to 50% less water and the combined water and electricity savings can total almost $68 a year.
And if customers use a clothes drying rack even just a quarter of the time (instead of a dryer), they could save another $21 a year, according to the company.
Toronto Hydro claimed that through its conservation and demand management programs, it has achieved savings of 121,456MWh bringing its total savings to approximately 655,010MWh since the start of its programs in 2005.
Gino DiGioacchino, vice president of merchandising at Home Depot, Canada, said: “The Home Depot wants to educate consumers on how eco options products can be incorporated into their lifestyle to make a difference for the environment and from a dollar savings perspective.
”In addition to education, The Home Depot has focused on providing even more value to consumers by lowering prices on many of our over 1,900 eco options products which include EnerStar washing machines.”
