Upon receiving the approvals from the government, Pattern plans to complete the wind farm by the end of 2012 that will coincide with a 2012 in-service date for the 500kV Sunrise Powerlink transmission line, currently under construction.
This project is expected to produce enough renewable wind energy to serve more than 130,000 households a year.
The contract requires approval from the California Public Utilities Commission.
SDG&E power supply senior vice president James Avery said that this renewable resource is precisely the type of project the Sunrise Powerlink was designed to support.
SDG&E said that this is the fourth renewable contract, totaling 600MW, the company has signed in the past nine months that will be transmitted across the Sunrise Powerlink.
