The assets are located in Calgary, Red Deer, and Edmonton, Alberta, and Regina and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Praxair president Matt White said that the acquisition supports their growth strategy in western Canada and enables them to better serve their existing customers.

"This acquisition supports our growth strategy in western Canada and enables us to better serve our existing customers and home oxygen clients in Alberta and Saskatchewan," added White.

Financial details of the deal are yet to be made public.

Airgas is the distributor of industrial, medical and specialty gases, and hardgoods, such as welding equipment and supplies.

It plans to use the funds generated from the sell-off to further strengthen its brand and operations business in British Columbia.
