The cogeneration plant is located adjacent to the company’s 18MW/h biomass power plant in Kancheepuram.
The company will sell the power generated from the cogeneration plant to blue chip corporate clients at premium rates.
Initially, the production of 15MW of power every hour will be sustained until the plant refurbishment is completed later this year, after which the plant is expected to operate at a full capacity.
Clenergen CEO Tim Bowen said that the additional operating revenues generated from the power plant will allow the company to scale up its technical, sales and engineering management teams, as it prepares for several new biomass power plants under contract and scheduled to be operational in 2011.
Clenergen uses biomass feedstock to implement sustainable supplies of clean energy for captive end users, islands, mining companies, government or privately-owned power grid systems and other end users.
