LG India’s 5 Star Rated televisions will have an APC (maximum) of 147 kWh/year in 21” and 200 KWH/year in 29” flat considering daily usage pattern of six hours in ‘On Mode’ and 12 hours in standby mode. The Star-rating label will give the energy efficiency of the television in the form of rating between one and five.

Commenting on the occasion, Moon B. Shin, managing director of LG Electronics, said, “The upcoming line-up is yet another testimony of our endeavour to give the most excellent to the Indian consumer. Energy efficiency is the most important aspect in consumer electronics. After conducting a thorough research, we are planning to develop 31 models with 100 per cent Star Rating by end of 2009.”

Amitabh Tiwari, business group marketing head, LG India, said, “Star Rating has been an extremely popular phenomenon across product categories like ACs and refrigerators. And now, we intend to make it popular in CTV category as well making CTV purchase the most sought after deal of the season. Even though the industry is witnessing four per cent category growth, we at LG are looking forward to an optimistic 7 per cent by 2009. With this, we aim to increase our market share from the current 27 per cent to a fair 30 per cent by the end of this year expecting total sales of four million sets in domestic market.”

LG India’s ultra slim range will come with an inbuilt swivel base and high gloss finish just like an LCD. Addition to this will be the monitor look ultra slim TV with additional X-List and X-sort feature. With a complete designer look and XD picture, the new range guarantees to be 40% slimmer than the existing range available in the market, as per LG.

The range will offer 200 W PMPO along with five-band graphic equaliser and XDS. The Star Rated range will differ from 1 star to 5 star. For instance, the 21-inch flat 5 Star Rated TV will save upto 35% more energy as compared to 21-inch flat 1 star rated set.

While the Star Rated 21” flat TV will come at an MRP of INR7,300, the Star Rated 29” flat TV will be priced at INR14,900. The MRP of Star Rated 21” ultra slim TV is INR8,300 and that of 29” ultra slim TV is INR17,800.
