The delegation includes academicians, industry leaders, state utilities and public enterprise organizations, who aim to grow foreign exports and encouraging, direct investment specifically in the sustainable technology and ocean energy sectors.
Viewed as one of the global leaders in the development of ocean energy technology, Irish experts will brief the delegation on the latest Irish developments in wave and tidal energy.
They will also learn of Ireland’s experience in renewable energy and carbon-reduction policies.
The visit will allow Irish clean-tech companies to explore collaborations in US, besides the Far East that is accessible to them from the state of Washington, US. According to the SEAI,
Washington State Governor Christine Gregoire was quoted by the Silicon Republic as saying, that Ireland has progressed well in developing sustainable energy policy and creating enterprise opportunities, particularly in emerging new technology areas.
"An Irish company has already secured a major contract to develop a tidal energy pilot project for a public utility provider in Washington State. Partnerships like these are critical to us meeting our growing energy needs in a clean and sustainable manner," said Gregoire.
