Recently, Minnesota Power submitted plans to the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission to construct 105MW wind project, worth approximately $157m, in Oliver and Morton counties.
Siemens scope of supply encompasses the transportation, erection and commissioning of the 35 units of SWT-3.0-101 turbine and a three-year service and maintenance agreement for the wind power project.
The deliveries are scheduled to start in August 2012, and the wind power project will be commissioned by the end of 2012.
The company said the SWT-3.0-101 wind turbine with a rated power output of 3MW and a rotor diameter of 101m offers an innovative direct drive concept with a permanent magnet generator.
The Bison 1 and 2 wind energy centers combined are expected to provide clean electricity to more than 50,000 homes in the state of Minnesota.
The second phase of Bison 1 center is scheduled to be completed this year.
