DeWind intends to break ground on the first phase of the project by mid-2011, and is expected to begin commercial operations in early 2012.

The utility-scale facility is slated to total 370MW when fully developed.

DeWind will install 40 units of its 2MW D9.2 wind turbine for the 80MW phase one, while future phases may utilize new DeWind models currently under development.

Phase one D9.2 turbines will be furnished from DeWind assembly contractor TECO-Westinghouse based in the US state of Texas.

The company said the grid-friendly design of the D9.2 uniquely provides grid-support capability to all grid applications and is well-suited to the Oklahoma Panhandle setting.

DeWind designs, produces and sells DeWind series wind energy turbines.

DeWind is a subsidiary of a shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering.
