The company as per the contract will design and construct fuel handling and storage systems for the 200MW GS conversion project to manage the biomass fuel.
Aecon chief operating officer Teri McKibbon said, "Aecon is pleased to be an integral part of another OPG clean energy project."
Construction on the facility is currently underway with completion expected in 2014.
The Atikokan GS project includes modifications to the plant while the converted facility will provide clean energy produced from a sustainable fuel which is considered to be beneficial to the climate change mitigation.
