Eric Tsai, general manager of the AREi, said that 14 HCPV devices have been installed to generate an output of 190,000 kWh per year.
Eric Tsai reported that AREi is collaborating with the Tainan county government in promoting solar energy in the county. In the upcoming years, AREi will install other facilities to allow power generation of 900 kilowatts per hour.
Tsai has further reported that the power generated from the system will be provided to the AREi’s photovoltaic research center at the science park, through a grid system. If any additional power is generated, then it will be sold to the Taiwan Power Company.
Tsai has also reported that the cost of constructing a HCPV solar power system is more than constructing a conventional solar power system. The HCPV requires 50% less land than the traditional solar power system.
AREi is projected to receive its investment back in less than 14 years. In addition, the government’s newly passed Renewable Energy Development Act will allow subsidies for private companies involved in the development of clean energy.
