The grant to Conde is to pay for about $1.7 million upgrade to its wastewater facilities and upgrade some problems in the system’s lines.
Originally, Conde officials have requested $500,000, with the expectation of getting a $500,000 community development grant (CDBG) and $600,000 in federal loan-grant financing. The $600,000 proposal was changed to $900,000, leading to a corresponding decrease in the state grant.
Mike Perkovich, an official with the state Department of Environment and Natural Resources, has told the board he knows of no reason that the CDBG $600,000 won’t be approved.
The award to Rosholt is toward its nearly $1.7 million project to improve its wastewater pond system and reline various sewer manholes and lines.
The project is scheduled to also receive a federal grant of $400,000 and a federal loan of $850,000.
Hecla has received the grant toward its $308,000 plan to make improvements in its wastewater collection system.
A $160,000 community development grant (CDBG) is also part of the funding package.
