The country’s Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry explained that the current price structure wasn’t very investor-friendly and that prompted a hike, report The Jakarta Post.
According to Deputy Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Rudi Rubiandini, utilities will now have to pay between IDR975 and IDR1,050 ($0.11) per kilowatt hour (kWh) up from the current IDR656 ($0.07) per kWh.
"The new price for electricity from solar power plants will be around IDR 1,880 ($0.2) to IDR 3,135 ($0.32) and that from wind power plants will be around IDR 1,250 ($0.12) to IDR 1,810 ($0.19) per kWh, depending on the location of the power plants," Rudi added.
The new pricing being considered by the government is the second in the year 2012, with an earlier hike in the month of July.
