Coastal Energen, the power generating flagship company of the Coal and Oil Group, is setting up a 1200MW coal-fired thermal power plant in Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
In addition to seawater desalination, Aquatech has agreed to provide a complete water and wastewater solution for the facility, including a high purity water system, electro chlorination, and effluent treatment plant.
The contract also includes pilot trials for the seawater reverse osmosis pretreatment and civil & building work.
Coastal Energen managing director Zafrulla said the Mutiara coal-fired power plant being developed at Tuticorin has special architectural features.
"Several environment friendly measures have also been adopted to make it a reference power project," Zafrulla said.
Coal and Oil Group is an integrated energy company involved in various aspects of energy supplies including coal trading, mining, shipping, logistics and power generation.
