The six projects were selected from among the 223 applications vying for the fund. The organizations receiving the CCEMC funding are: Evergreen Energy Technologies, May-Ruben Technologies, Nova Chemicals, Suncor Energy, Great Northern Power and Genalta Power Systems.
The CCEMC is also launching a Call for Proposals – Expression of Interest (EOI) to facilitate more energy efficiency projects. It has allotted $40m for project funding and will contribute a maximum of $7m on an individual project in this EOI.
Through these projects CCEMC intends to improve energy efficiency of industrial production and processing through enhanced energy management and the application of commercial and near-commercial technologies.
The Government of Alberta provides the fund to CCEMC to finance these projects. The Alberta companies that annually produce more than 100,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are required to cut their GHG emission by 12% or pay $15 for each tonne of GHG produced, into the CCEMC fund.

“It shows that good ideas can come from anywhere. These projects will help industry to reduce energy consumption, contribute to achieving Alberta’s greenhouse gas targets and support Canada’s clean technology objectives.”
