Under the contract, ArcelorMittal will provide North Lake Energy facility with steam produced from waste blast furnace gas, including steam from the $63.2m Indiana Harbor Energy Recovery & Reuse, 504 Boiler project, which is currently being constructed by ArcelorMittal.
The agreement enables Primary Energy to expand the capacity of its North Lake facility, located in East Chicago, by 20% to 90MW, and this upgrade is expected to cost $10m to $12m.
The phase I of the facility has been completed in March 2011, and the phase II is expected to be completed during the second or third quarter of 2012 to coincide with the expected completion of ArcelorMittal’s new 504 boiler.
Primary Energy is a clean energy company that generates revenue from capturing and recycling recoverable heat and byproduct fuels from industrial processes.
