US-based Servidyne has received contracts to provide energy efficiency and demand response services for commercial and institutional buildings located in the City of San Antonio, Texas.

Under the first two contracts, valued in excess of $560,000, the company will provide retro-commissioning and energy audit services for these facilities over the next two years.

Servidyne also will perform demand response audits as part of a package of services it will provide for each building.

The company said technology-enabled demand response and energy efficiency system, Fifth Fuel Management, creates immediate and ongoing value for utility companies by reducing excess demand on the electric grid and decreasing their need to build new electric generating plants.

The energy efficiency contracts were awarded by the City of San Antonio as part of the city’s Better Buildings Program, utilizing a $10m federal grant secured by the city.
