The technology licensing agreement will allow the integration of Ergonomy’s technology with Green EnviroTech’s patented process to develop a new recycling technology that is expected to reduce the amount of shredder residue (SR) going to landfills by 50%.
Plastic recovered from SR contains PCBs, lead and other hazardous waste which are very difficult to be removed. Ergonomy’s proprietary method addresses this issue by isolating contaminants from plastic and rubber materials before they are further processed or separated, thereby removing the PCBs without harming the plastic and eliminating the potential for contamination.
In addition, the company expects this new technology to help businesses reduce their carbon by utilizing the recycled materials in their own products.
Green EnviroTech has planned for its Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin facility to use the Ergonomy technology as a key process in recycling plastic.
