Under the terms of the two-year contract which can extended up to three additional years, Exide will supply an estimated 287,000 heavy-duty wet cell (flooded) products to the DSCC for aftermarket replacement use in tanks, armed vehicle applications, and equipment for all branches of the US armed forces.
Exide will deliver these batteries, which will be produced at the company’s transportation manufacturing plant in Manchester, Iowa, to military bases and sites across the US through its branch network that comprises of 68 US sales locations. The company hopes to begin the delivery of the batteries to DSCC in July 2010.
The contract marks the company’s fourth multi-year supply agreement with DSCC/DLA since 1994. Collectively, the company has executed eight consecutive contracts with the DSCC/DLA for the supply of batteries for military applications.
