The City of San Antonio has contracted EnerPath to administer the City Lights Program, which will be funded in whole by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act through the US Department of Energy.

Under this program, businesses receive a free lighting audit that identifies potential energy and cost saving measures. The program then provides the participants with option to enter into a zero interest loan agreement for up to $3,000 to fund the installation of the lighting upgrades to be done by EnerPath.

All commercial customers of CPS Energy located within city limits with an established non-residential account under a valid CPS Energy commercial, industrial and/or agricultural rate can participate in the program.

The account needs to be active for the last 36 months in the same business with the most recent 12 months usage at the current meter.

In case of business leasing their space, a minimum lease term of one year is required. Customers need to be in good credit standing with CPS Energy. Facilities must be 15,000sqft or less and employ up to 50 individuals to be eligible for the program.

On average, interior lighting accounts for 43% of a businesses’ energy consumption. The program is thus expected to make considerable reduction in a businesses’ energy consumption and utility bills.
