The company has started construction on the project and expects to complete the work by the end of this year.
As per the terms of the contract, RMT will provide engineering, procurement, and construction to support the installation of 12 Clipper Liberty 2.5MW wind turbines. The scope of work for RMT under the contract also involves the construction of the civil infrastructure that includes roads, crane walks and pads, and turbine foundations.
In addition, RMT will also be responsible for the construction of the electrical infrastructure, including a 23kV underground collector system and a 23/46kV step-up substation, a 7,000sqft operations and maintenance building and tower erection.
Frank Greb, general manager and vice president of RMT, said: “Kahuku Wind is building on Hawaii’s longstanding tradition of self-sufficiency, capturing the local wind resources to provide a renewable energy solution for Oahu. This clean energy facility will have the capacity to generate enough energy to power about 7,700 homes each year.”
