The loan will be employed for the construction of four water treatment plants and other sewerage infrastructure schemes to improve the wastewater management in the region while increasing the reliability and efficiency of water supply.

The scheme will also promote the reuse of domestic wastewater for non-domestic purposes.

Co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, the project is scheduled for completion in 2016.

The planned investments under this loan form part of the Water Supply Master Plan and the Sanitation Master Plan for Cantabria.
