The new technology will provide the customers with all the information needed to determine electricity usage daily or weekly and their resulting bill via cell phone or email, thereby helping them manage their energy costs in real time.
In addition to providing the customer with immediate feedback on their energy usage patterns, the Smart PrePay system will alert the customers when they are down to three days of power, allowing them to pay a smaller amount for their energy, but on a more frequent basis.
The Smart PrePay customers will be charged prepay energy rate of 12.9 cents just as summer’s peak usage starts – with no monthly account fee or energy fee. Customers with smart meters can have their services activated in less than three hours, even if they have been disconnected.
Thomas O’Roark, CEO of dPi Energy, said: “dPi Energy is thrilled to be among the first energy companies to bring the benefits of this exciting new technology to our customers. It puts customers in control by arming them with information about their usage patterns. It also gives customers the option to determine how frequently and in what quantities they purchase electricity.”
