This pilot will feature GroundedPower’s wireless monitor that provides real-time energy usage information to consumers through an internet gateway, thereby helping consumers lower energy consumption by setting goals, selecting tasks, sharing information with other participants and being rewarded with points for performance.
The Ipswich project aims to combine hardware and software offerings to allow the consumers to see and modify their energy consumption behaviors, interact with others in their communities using social media and track results in real time.
GroundedPower, which is conducting pilots in seven other Massachusetts communities, which include Braintree, Danvers, Hingham, North Attleboro, Shrewsbury, Wakefield and Wellesley, is operating within the periphery of all electric metering environments including legacy, AMR and AMI smart meters.

“Reducing energy costs is top of mind in today’s economy, and a key goal is to help our customers better understand and manage their electricity use. We believe iCES will do that.”
