The company is set to commission the 13.6MW Jüchen wind farm in the Rhine district of Neuss, which was co-developed alongside BMR Windenergie
The Jüchen farm employs four wind turbines, each with a capacity of 3.4MW, to be jointly operated by the two companies.
RWE CEO Dr. Hans Bünting highlighted that the Jüchen farm was the second project to be commissioned by the company in the region.
BMR Windenergie CEO Guido Beckers added, "The commissioning of wind farm Jüchen is a clear sign for the expansion of renewable energy in the region as well as for the employment of newest technologies. The onshore turbines of the three megawatt class used on the former surface mine territory are the most powerful of their kind."
Expected to generate 32,500MWh of electricity per annum the farm will help reduce 2500tons of CO2 emissions.
The company will also commission the 8MW Hörup wind farm, located in the state of Schleswig-Holstein.
The facility has been re-developed by replacing four older wind power systems with three more powerful systems that will now generate 17,000MW of electricity per year.
