The wind power project will include 44 turbines installed in five Monteregie municipalities: Mercier, Saint-Constant, Saint-Isidore, Saint-Michel and Saint-Remi.
The wind farm is scheduled to start operations in December 2012, and is expected to generate enough electricity to power the equivalent of some 10,000 homes.
Hydro-Quebec Distribution will buy the renewable energy generated by the wind power project, under a 20-year agreement.
Kruger Energy vice president and general manager Jean Roy said the power project has benefited from the collaboration of stakeholders, including municipalities, government authorities, owners of land on which the wind turbines will be erected, and residents.
Construction will involve building 35km of access roads and turbine foundations, installing a collector network, building an electrical substation, installing the turbines and connecting the project to Hydro-Quebec’s network, Kruger Energy said.
Kruger Energy is engaged in the development and management of green and renewable energy power plants.
