Under the terms of the deal, the firms will develop new combustion technology which will use low calorific value fuel efficiently, in preparation for the introduction of low calorific value gases.
In November 2014, MHPS signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with KEPCO to launch initiatives such as annual technical exchange meetings and future joint research.
Technical exchange meetings have already been carried out between MHPS, KEPCO and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). The firms have also studied specific joint research projects.
The latest research agreement, which is based on this MOU, is intended to integrate MHPS’s advanced design technologies with KEPCO’s production technology to realize new concepts in combustion / measurement technology.
In particular, joint field testing will be conducted using MHPS’s combustion chamber at the gas turbine combustion test facility at KERRI, KEPCO’s electrical power research institute. The study is scheduled to be completed is three years.
MHPS, in partnership with KEPCO, intends to contribute to the stable and efficient power supply and the reduction of environmental impact.
