Vikram Solar to commission 40MW solar power facility in Rajasthan, India

The project is developed under the government-backed National Solar Mission (NSM) and attracted an investment of INR4bn ($74m).

Vikram Solar director Gyanesh Chaudhary told the PTI that the project is in the process of completion and will be commissioned towards the end of February 2013.

The project is part of the company’s plans to develop a 300MW solar power portfolio over the next 3-5 years.

Chaudhary added that the company was engaged in discussions with the Tamil Nadu government for setting up of a 10 MW facility.

"The state government is very interested about the project and we will formally announce in a couple of weeks," said Chaudhary.

Vikram Solar is also scouting for similar projects in the state of Maharastra and has called upon the Indian government to protect the interests of local power developers.
