The grid-management technology when installed in electrical devices, such as fridges and air conditioners, enables carbon-free balancing of supply and demand across the national grid.
RLtec said the technology also creates a new revenue stream for the company’s partners.
The investment follows the collaboration between RLtec and Sainsbury, under which Rltec’s Dynamic Demand technology rolled out to 200 stores in Sainsbury, UK.
Rltec’s technology enables heating and ventilation systems to better manage electricity supply and demand across the entire national grid, as well as improving Sainsbury’s energy efficiency, and is expected to save 10,000 tonnes of carbon a year.
The new transaction follows the acquisition of third party shares in RLtec by Ombu on 6 June 2011.
