Through the investment, Waste Management will increase its processing capacity by over one million tons and add commercial and consumer organic products to its organics recycling business.
The expansion of organic recycling services and products will also enable Waste Management to cater to its residential, commercial and industrial customers seeking to convert their organic wastes into products such as compost, mulch and organic soil amendment.
Waste Management’s services in the areas of recycling, landfill and waste-to-energy are complemented by these investments which contribute towards its goals of doubling its renewable energy production, tripling its recycling capacity by 2020 and investing in new waste management technology.
Garick CEO Gary Trinetti said that Waste Management’s existing infrastructure, coupled with their commitment to redirecting organic waste streams to higher and better uses, will help close the loop for their mutual customers in accomplishing their recycling and sustainability goals.
