The project, to be managed and engineered in VWS Westgarth’s offices in East Kilbride, Glasgow, will require the company to design and supply a single lift module seawater sulphate reduction package (SRP) system with a capacity of 20,060 cubic meters per day.
The SRP uses Dow Filmtec membranes to remove sulphates and other divalent ions from injection water to enhance oil recovery by reducing the tendency of barium sulphate and strontium sulphate scale to form in the reservoir.
Prior to this contract, VWS Westgarth has executed SRP projects for SBM Monaco and SBM Gusto MSC of Holland in which the company demonstrated the effectiveness of the SRP system in enhancing oil recovery by treating seawater.
