The system which has been operational since 29 June.
The project has been delivered for Rentech Energy Midwest Corp developed under the climate action reserve (CAR) nitric acid protocol.
The project partners included ClimeCo’s engineering partner O’Brien & Gere; Northwest Mechanical; Jackson Concrete; EcoChem Analytics; and Westphal Electrical.
The tertiary abatement system utilizes a Nitrous Oxide Abatement Technology catalyst manufactured by CRI Catalyst Company to directly decompose N2O from industrial and chemical processes and convert it into naturally occurring nitrogen and oxygen.
REMC anticipates that the Nitric Acid Unit #1 Abatement System will reduce emissions by approximately 150,000 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent per year.
ClimeCo is engaged in low carbon technology deployment.
