2bm iMeter, which can be implemented without a system downtime allowing uninterrupted operation, can be used at rack level, providing insight into energy requirements of servers, storage area networks and switches, and lighting and air conditioning.

2bm iMeter features an intelligent sensor, intelliAmp, which can be installed in ‘live’ environments to monitor the current draw of racks via 16A and 32A cables and its calibration system ensures the correct positioning of sensor to achieve optimum levels of accuracy.

The power monitoring system also provides reports which compare every hour, day, week and month trends in energy consumption and sets alarms based on predetermined thresholds, allowing day-to-day energy management.

2bm director Mark King said that with traditional metering technology requiring downtime, data center managers have so far been unable to achieve an in-depth insight into energy consumption required, opting instead for a temporary or best guess solution.
