SunPeak Solar has agreed to supply 28.7MW (DC) of solar panels for the power plant, located on a 123-acre lot located adjacent to the Imperial Irrigation District’s Niland electric substation and natural gas turbine facilities.
Imperial Valley Solar Company (IVSC) 1, a subsidiary of SunPeak Solar, will be responsible for the construction of the power project.
IVSC will install about 100,000 units of Suntech’s 285/290W Vd-Series module with advanced SuperPoly silicon processing technology.
The solar facility will provide enough energy to power nearly 14,000 homes within the utility’s service area in Imperial County and parts of Riverside and San Diego counties.
The North American Development Bank will provide a $77.4m credit facility to support the solar project.
