Under this pilot project, BuildingIQ will provide its Predictive Energy Optimization system to improve the energy performance at Argonne’s Theory and Computing Sciences (TCS) building.
The BuildingIQ Predictive Energy Optimization system will plug into the building’s Metasys building management system from Johnson Controls and leverage the existing energy infrastructure to reduce energy use without upgrades or capital projects.
The system has been designed to manage the energy use in the building by automatically recording the building’s thermal characteristics, while providing weather forecasts, electricity tariffs and other factors such as demand response signals.
Argonne scholar Victor Zaval said that BuildingIQ’s system provides a powerful framework for energy management that will reduce their carbon footprint and energy costs.
“The system combines advanced concepts in real-time building modeling, machine learning, and adaptive control that enable precise predictions and optimization of the energy demands, representing the next generation of energy management in buildings,” Zaval said.
