The new bioethanol facility has the capacity to generate around 420 million liters of renewable transport fuel annually.
During the development phase, the plant has created approximately 1,000 jobs and is expected to create 80 full time jobs at the site, the company said.
Commenting on the facility, REA Renewable Transport head of Clare Wenner said that the biofuels developed in the UK are among the most sustainable in the world in terms of greenhouse gas savings.
"Vivergo’s decision to recruit and train employees directly through the local Job Centre, in partnership with Hull College, saw them shortlisted for an REA Skills Development Award this year," added Wenner.
Meanwhile, the new bioethanol plant is expected to become the largest single source supplier of animal feed, by generating 500,000 tons of animal feed co-products annually for use by livestock farmers in the country.
