
redT claims that it is the first time it has shipped a large, contract manufactured, containerised vanadium flow battery to a customer’s project,
At the Power Networks Demonstration Centre (PNDC) in Cumbernauld, the units will undergo a programme of data analysis and performance benchmarking.
They will be then transported to the Scottish Isle of Gigha and added to the island’s 1MW wind farm.
The project will include 1.68 MWh of storage made up of seven 15kW/240kWh units linked in series.
The Gigha energy storage system is funded by the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC). redT’s project partners include Scottish and Southern Energy, EA Technology, Community Energy Scotland and Gigha Green Power.
