juwi India Renewable Energies will begin the installation of the PV projects in India from 2011 onwards and will also work with SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) countries to further intensify its growing international business activities.

Initially, juwi will act as the general contractor for the solar projects, providing design, engineering and construction of field and roof-top solar installations, and will gradually develop PV projects in India, covering the entire process – from acquisition of land to the completion of the power plant.

The development of the new projects will help the Indian government achieve its goal of increasing the total installed capacity of solar energy to 20,000MW by the year 2022 in line with the ‘Global Climate Change Initiative’.

juwi India Renewable Energies president Rajesh Bhat said that India currently provides excellent conditions for the solar industry and the country has the most attractive market in all of Asia.

“As one of the leading developers, juwi’s opportunities there are outstanding. 100% renewable energies are possible – now and not in the far future,” Bhat said.
