The Coalition, which includes other members companies such as Cisco Systems; Eaton; PG&E; Nissan Motor Company; Johnson Controls; FedEx and Siemens, seeks to address concerns raised due the nation’s dependence on petroleum by facilitating deployment of EVs.
Enterprise Holdings, which owns and operates, through its regional subsidiaries, more than 1 million cars and trucks generating annual revenues of $12.6bn, will begin adding 500 Nissan Leafs to its fleet next month, and will also add up to 100 Coda Sedan EVs in 2011.
With more than 5,000 offices located within the vicinity of the US population, Enterprise Holdings’ EVs initially will be available in seven markets where the infrastructure exists to support the vehicles, including Phoenix; Nashville; San Diego; Los Angeles; San Francisco; Portland; and Seattle.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car customers will then be able to specifically request an EV when making a reservation, while EVs will be also added to select WeCar car-sharing operations as an extension of local Enterprise Rent-A-Car business rental programs on corporate and college campuses.
