If approved, the wind farm with an approximate capacity of 30MW, is likely to generate electricity equivalent to the average demand of about 17,000 households.
Solwaybank wind farm project manager Ruth Elder said RES first submitted an application for the wind farm in 2009 and following feedback from statutory consultees and thelocal community on how the project would affect the landscape, the company decided to withdraw the application in order to redesign the site.
RES is proposing a community fund of about GBP60,000 per year and there will also be opportunities for local contractors during the construction period, the company said.
