Based on On-Ramp Wireless’ Ultra-Link Processing (ULP) wireless networking platform for utility automation, On-Ramp and Fountain Springs will deliver new technology to enable Korea’s Smart Grid initiative.

With the help of the initiative, Korea Telecom will be able to improve energy efficiency, lower costs and accelerate deployment of smart grid applications.

On-Ramp’s ULP wireless communication technology, in conjunction with Fountain Springs’ AMI solution and advanced data analytics and meter data management capabilities, helps utilities manage power consumption throughout all end points of the distribution network.

On-Ramp president and CEO Joaquin Silva said implementing ULP technology, in conjunction with Fountain Springs and Korea Telecom, will completely address the meter density and capacity challenges of the South Korean environment.

"Our ULP technology reduces network and operational costs by up to 5x compared with competing systems, and will enable Korea Telecom to work towards their intentions to gain a large piece of the global Smart Grid market," Silva said.
