The scope of the contract includes supply of 1.85MW of GE wind turbines. Under the contract, the first wind turbines will be delivered for the Hereford wind project in the Texas Panhandle.
EDF Renewable Energy has signed a membership interest purchase agreement with Lincoln Renewable Energy (LRE), a developer of wind and solar projects, under which EDF Renewable Energy will acquire from LRE the first phase (200MW) of the Hereford project as well as an option agreement for a total of up to 500MW. Further, the company has secured a long-term hedge on the first phase of the project.
EDF Renewable Energy executive vice president Ryan Pfaff said, "The execution of the turbine supply agreement, along with the closing of a long-term hedge, is an important element of our near-term US wind business plan.
"The deal can largely be credited to our long-term relationships with both GE and our hedge provider, and the confidence amongst the parties that each will deliver on its respective commitments."
